There are few rules: be nice, be kind, be mindful that words can hurt (and be the basis of libelous lawsuits). Certainly be honest and approach the comments of your union sisters and brothers with an open mind. Everyone wants to be heard and everyone wants to leave happy, or at least not feeling bad.

Acceptable topics include, but are not limited to: any item related to the chapter: agenda, committee business, contract negotiations, conventions, strategies, ideas, etc.

Unacceptable topics include, but are not limited to: comments aimed at specific individuals, disparaging potty mouthing, angry emotional venting of any sort, specifics of workplace problems (do not name your evil supervisor!) etc.

Ask questions, ask for accountability, state your opinion, express your needs, share your vision, and give kudos.

Let's create a vital forum for discussion that encourages positive actions and supports the voice of the membership.

The Anchorage Chapter offers the TalkAbout for Anchorage Chapter members only. If you would like to join the forum and you feel you have a good reason as a non-member, please send an email to President Rosemary Foster who will convene the Advisory Committee to consider your request. As members do not speak on behalf of union, whatever comments and statements posted here are solely the opinion of the member and the union (ASEA/AFSCME Local 52) local and statewide leadership or administration do not accept responsibility for the truthfulness and veracity of comments made and further attest that any comments posted here do no necessarily represent official ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Anchorage Chapter policy or positions. All members use good judgment and good taste in exchanging their views in the interests of free and open communication in accordance with the AFSCME Member Bill of Rights. However, we reserve the right to exclude and delete messages which may be offensive, inappropriate or illegal.
